Accountability

Corrections policy.

We would rather be right than fast, and when we are wrong we say so in the same place we made the error.

Commitment

Errors are fixed where they happened.

When a factual error is identified in an article or guide, we correct the text and append a note stating what was changed and when. We do not silently rewrite published claims. For material errors, the note appears at the top of the piece.

Matters of taste and judgement are not errors. Prices, dates, names, places and attributions are facts, and facts get corrected.

Process

How to request a correction.

Send the article link, the passage in question and the correct information with a verifiable source through the contact page, with the word Correction in the subject. Requests reach the editor responsible for the piece.

We acknowledge correction requests within two working days and resolve verified factual errors as soon as the fix is confirmed, normally within the same period. If we decline a request, we explain why.

Record

The correction stays visible.

Correction notes remain on the article for as long as the article exists. Updated pages carry their last review date so readers always know how current the information is.

Right of Reply

If you are the subject of an article.

If a hotel, restaurant, brand, house or person is described here and believes the description is inaccurate or incomplete, write to us. We will read it, check it against the sources we used, and publish a correction or an addition where it is warranted.

Where the disagreement is about judgement rather than fact we will say so plainly, and if the point is substantial we will publish the reply alongside the piece. A request for a reply is never a reason for us to remove an article, and it is never refused without an explanation.

Who Answers

A named person reads every message.

Correction requests are handled by the writer who signed the piece and by the desk it belongs to, under the responsibility of the Director, Giovanni Cimmino. The writers and their addresses are listed on the masthead page.
