The Brief

Ibiza has two operating systems.

The postcards show the clubs, but the island's luxury runs on the other system, hippie market mornings, hilltop fincas, long lunches barefoot on the sand and the daily boat to Formentera's Caribbean water. The best hotels let you toggle between the two at will.

The boat day is non negotiable.

Charter at least one full day afloat, Formentera's Ses Illetes at ten before the fleet arrives, lunch on the sand, the slow return past Es Vedrà at golden hour. Book the boat and the beach restaurant together, the good tables on Formentera go faster than any club.

Where should I stay in Ibiza for luxury away from the party

The north. Six Senses on Xarraca bay and Hacienda Na Xamena deliver cliffs, quiet and sunsets forty minutes from the airport. Inland, Atzaró offers the classic finca experience among the orchards.

Is Ibiza good for couples and families

Genuinely, outside the club corridors. The north and the inland fincas are calm, Formentera day trips are family gold, and June or September soften the scene further while keeping perfect sea.

How do I do Formentera properly

By private boat from Marina Botafoch or your hotel's beach, thirty to forty minutes across. Anchor off Ses Illetes, book a sand floor lunch ahead, and leave Ibiza by nine thirty to own the water first.
