France Adds Six New Palace Hotels in 2026

By Luxury.it Editorial DeskJune 16, 20262 min read

France’s Palace distinction remains one of the most important signals in European luxury hospitality. In 2026, the list has expanded with six new additions, bringing renewed attention to Paris, the Alps, Champagne and the French Riviera.

The new Palace hotels include Bvlgari Hotel Paris, Cheval Blanc Paris, Hôtel Barrière Fouquet’s Paris, Four Seasons Resort Megève, Hôtel Martinez Cannes and Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa.

Why the Palace label matters

The Palace distinction is not simply another five-star category. It is reserved for hotels judged to go beyond standard luxury, with criteria connected to location, heritage, aesthetics, service and amenities.

For international travellers, the label functions as a shortcut. It says: this is one of France’s highest hospitality addresses.

Paris strengthens its dominance

Paris remains the centre of gravity. With additions such as Bvlgari Hotel Paris, Cheval Blanc Paris and Fouquet’s, the capital continues to reinforce its status as Europe’s most complete luxury hotel city.

That matters because Paris competes not only with London, Milan and Rome, but with global luxury cities such as New York, Dubai and Tokyo. Its hotel scene remains central to its identity.

Beyond Paris

The inclusion of Four Seasons Resort Megève, Hôtel Martinez Cannes and Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa shows the geographic range of French luxury. The Palace ecosystem now stretches from urban fashion and art to Alpine resort life, Riviera glamour and wine-country retreat.

This is precisely why France is still the country to study in luxury hospitality. It understands that luxury is not a single format. It is city, mountain, sea and countryside.

Luxury.it perspective

For Luxury.it, the 2026 Palace expansion is a useful benchmark. Italy has extraordinary hotels, but France remains stronger at institutionalising luxury hospitality into a recognised national system.
