Dolomites ยท Italy

Luxury hotels in the Dolomites.

Pink granite at sunset, design hotels at two thousand meters and the quiet end of Italian luxury.

The Brief

The mountains are Italy's best kept season.

The Dolomites run two performances a year. Winter brings the Sellaronda circuit and ski in ski out silence, summer brings hiking light that photographers plan years around. The new generation of hotels here, built in wood, glass and altitude, has quietly become the most interesting in the country.

Alta Badia and Val Gardena are the core, connected lift country with Michelin density unusual for any mountain range. Cortina d'Ampezzo plays the social card. The Plose and Odle side is where the silence lives.

Insider Notes

Altitude first, town second.

Decide sunrise or nightlife. The plateau and forest hotels put you inside the light shows, enrosadira turning the walls pink at dusk, but dinner is the hotel. Cortina gives you restaurants and shops, then a drive to the cable cars. In winter, ski in ski out at altitude wins.

Summer here answers the sea. Clients increasingly run Venice into three mountain nights, two hours by car, water to rock. For pure treatment travel, compare with our Italian spa hotels index, which the Dolomites dominate.

The Luxury.it Perspective

The Dolomites are proof that Italian luxury works at minus ten. Wood, wine and a horizon of stone.

Questions

Good to know

Where should I stay in the Dolomites for luxury
Alta Badia or Alpe di Siusi for ski in ski out and the great new design hotels. Cortina d'Ampezzo for the social season and restaurants. The Plose side, home to Forestis, for maximum quiet.
Are the Dolomites worth visiting in summer
Summer is arguably the stronger season. July to September brings hiking among the towers, rifugio lunches and the pink evening light, with the same hotels at gentler rates than ski weeks.
How do I get to the Dolomites
Fly to Venice or Verona, then two to two and a half hours by private car. Innsbruck serves the northern valleys. Helicopter transfers reach Cortina and Alta Badia in around forty minutes from Venice.
