Capri now has seven MICHELIN Key hotels, up from four in 2025. All three new One-Key names on the Amalfi Coast and the island are on Capri: Caesar Augustus, La Minerva and Punta Tragara. Across the coast and Capri, MICHELIN’s 2026 list counts 18 hotels, up from 14, with three at Three Keys, three at Two and 12 at One. Borgo Santandrea, at Conca dei Marini, moves up from Two Keys to Three, and Villa Treville, in Positano, enters at Two. Every other hotel keeps its 2025 tier. The Sorrento peninsula adds seven more, listed separately below. The tiers come from MICHELIN’s 2026 list for Italy, published in Italian on 18 September, and the counts are ours.
Borgo Santandrea joins Il San Pietro and J.K. Place Capri at Three Keys
Borgo Santandrea is the promotion. “It’s a Sixties modernist structure, thoroughly renovated under the direction of architect Rino Gambardella,” MICHELIN writes of the 45-room hotel at Via Giovanni Augustariccio 33, in Conca dei Marini, and “Alici, the terrace restaurant, takes in a commanding view of the spectacular coastline”. Il San Pietro di Positano, at Via Laurito 2, keeps its Three Keys. “A small 17th-century chapel devoted to San Pietro marks the hotel entrance,” the inspectors write. “The hotel is built just one room deep, and there are no inferior views.” It has 57 rooms, a lift goes down to a private beach, and it opens from April to October. On the island, J.K. Place Capri, at Via Marina Grande 225, has 22 rooms and is “one of the only hotels in Capri that’s right on the ocean”, in MICHELIN’s words. The three are among Italy’s 17 Three-Key hotels.
Santa Caterina, Capri Palace Jumeirah and Zeffirelli’s Villa Treville at Two
Villa Treville is the new name at Two Keys, with 16 suites at Via Arienzo 30, in Positano. “Once Franco Zeffirelli’s summer residence,” it is “layered across four villas that tumble down to the sea”, and “The shuttle boat service connects the hotel to Positano in less than 10 minutes”. Santa Caterina, at SS Amalfitana 9 in Amalfi, has 66 rooms. It has been “Family-owned for the better part of a century,” MICHELIN notes, and “guests ride an elevator down to the hotel’s private beach club”. It opens from mid-March to October. In Anacapri, Capri Palace Jumeirah has 72 rooms at Via Capodimonte 14, including “a collection of suites by esteemed Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola.”

Twelve at One Key, from Le Sirenuse to Palazzo Pascal
Capri has five of the twelve, and the three new names are very different hotels. Caesar Augustus, at Via G. Orlandi 4 in Anacapri, has 56 rooms high above the sea, and MICHELIN calls it “a modern luxury hotel in a classic style”. Its verdict ends with a warning: “To be wholeheartedly recommended to all those unafraid of heights”. La Minerva, at Via Occhio Marino 8, is a family-run hotel of 19 rooms that “descends the hillside on six levels toward its garden pool and the sea beyond”. Punta Tragara, at Via Tragara 57, has 44 rooms in a villa that “just happens to have been subject to some design work by a man named Le Corbusier”, and opens from April to October. In town, Capri Tiberio Palace has 54 rooms two minutes from the Piazzetta, according to MICHELIN, and La Palma, “Built in 1822”, has 50.
On the coast, Le Sirenuse, at Via Colombo 30 in Positano, has 59 rooms. MICHELIN finds it “remarkably un-hotel-like” and singles out “The narrow, heated lap-pool”. At Conca dei Marini, Monastero Santa Rosa has 20 suites in a 17th-century monastery, with “four levels of garden to explore, as well as a cliffside infinity pool”. Amalfi has Hotel Miramalfi, with 36 rooms on a clifftop above the beach, and Praiano has Casa Angelina, “a rare hotel that makes a virtue of modern architecture and design”. Ravello has two. The Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, has 50 rooms on Piazza San Giovanni del Toro, and Palazzo Avino, a “12th-century palace” that has been a hotel “since the 1880s”, has 43. Scala adds Palazzo Pascal, on Piazza Minuta, a small hotel that “has stood since the 11th century”, with tiles from the Pascal ceramics house of Ravello.
Seven more on the Sorrento peninsula
MICHELIN lists the peninsula’s towns on their own lines, and its seven Key hotels are unchanged from 2025. Two hold Two Keys. Bellevue Syrene 1820, at Piazza della Vittoria 5 in Sorrento, is a cliffside villa that “looks out over the waterfront and the Bay of Naples”, with 50 rooms and suites. La Minervetta, at Via Capo 25, has “only 12 rooms” and a terrace that “alone is almost worth the visit”. At One Key are the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, at Piazza Tasso 34, whose three villas were “all built between 1834 and 1880”, and Mediterraneo Sorrento, at Sant’Agnello, “a family-owned hotel for more than 60 years”. Villa Fiorella Art Hotel and Relais Blu are both at Massa Lubrense, and Hotel Capo La Gala, at Vico Equense, has 23 rooms. Torre del Saracino, which moved into the Bellevue Syrene in September, is in our piece on the move.
The Luxury.it perspective
The coast’s Keys go to small hotels. None of the 18 has more than 72 rooms, and the three at Three Keys have 22, 45 and 57. Positano shows the whole scale on its own, with one hotel in each tier: Il San Pietro at Three, Villa Treville at Two and Le Sirenuse at One. The season decides the rest. Six of the 18 pages say the hotel closes at the end of October, so this is a list for 2027. According to their pages, Santa Caterina and Casa Angelina open from mid-March, and Il San Pietro, Le Sirenuse, the Caruso and Punta Tragara from April. The year has a date to plan around, too. The America’s Cup comes to Naples from 22 May 2027, as in our guide to the regatta, with Capri and the Sorrento peninsula across the gulf.
