Prague’s two central Christmas markets open on Saturday 28 November and run to 6 January. They stand on Old Town Square and on Wenceslas Square, according to the listings of Prague City Tourism, and they open the day before the first Sunday of Advent. Two neighbourhood markets start earlier. Náměstí Míru, in Vinohrady, opens on 20 November and Republic Square on 25 November. Both close on Christmas Eve. For a place to stay, the city has eight MICHELIN Key hotels in the 2026 selection, three of them a short walk from Old Town Square.
Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square and two neighbourhood markets
| Market | Where | Dates 2026 | Hours |

| Republic Square Christmas Market | Náměstí Republiky, facing V Celnici | 25 November to 24 December | Not yet published |
The Old Town Square market promises “a daily cultural program featuring music and folklore” and a lit Christmas tree, in the city’s own description. Its hours, and those of Republic Square, are not printed in the official listings yet. The city also lists three shorter fairs. The MINT Market at the Holešovice Market Hall runs on 28 and 29 November, Karlín’s Christmas market fills Karlínské náměstí on Sunday 6 December from 12:00 to 20:00, and the Christmas Lemarket takes over the Národní dům na Smíchově from 11 to 13 December.
Into January: Three Kings, Ryba’s Mass and the Rudolfinum
The two central markets stay open after Christmas. They close on Wednesday 6 January, the day of the Three Kings Procession. It sets out from Malostranské náměstí in the middle of the afternoon, crosses Charles Bridge and ends on Old Town Square. “The event commemorates the Feast of the Epiphany, which marks the end of the Christmas season”, the city’s listing explains.
Two dates fill the week before and after Christmas. Jakub Jan Ryba’s Czech Christmas Mass is staged in Smetana Hall at the Municipal House on 22 December, at 16:00 and 19:30, and on 23 December at 10:00. “The Czech Christmas Mass by Jakub Jan Ryba is an inseparable part of the Czech Christmas celebrations”, reads the listing. The Czech Philharmonic’s New Year’s concerts follow at the Rudolfinum, on 31 December at 11:00 and 15:00 and on 1 January at 15:00 and 20:00.
Eight Key hotels, three of them close to Old Town Square
MICHELIN gives the Czech Republic 11 Key hotels for 2026, and eight are in Prague. Fairmont Golden Prague is the only one at Two Keys. The other seven hold One Key each.
| Keys | Hotel | Address | Rooms | To Old Town Square |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Two | Fairmont Golden Prague | Pařížská 30 | 320 | A short walk along Pařížská |
| One | Four Seasons Hotel Prague | Veleslavínova 2a | 157 | A short walk, by Charles Bridge |
| One | BoHo Prague Hotel | Senovážná 4 | 57 | A short walk, past the Powder Tower |
| One | The Julius Prague | Senovážné náměstí 3 | 168 | About 1 km |
| One | Andaz Prague | Senovážné náměstí 31 | 176 | About 1 km |
| One | Almanac X Alcron Prague | Štěpánská 40 | 204 | Next to the Wenceslas Square market |
| One | Mosaic House | Odborů 4 | 54 | New Town, a longer walk |
| One | Augustine | Letenská 12, Malá Strana | 101 | Across the river |
The Fairmont stands at the river end of Pařížská, “Set above the Vltava in one of Prague’s best-known buildings”, in MICHELIN’s words, and it has six dining venues, including the rooftop Zlatá Praha. The Four Seasons sits on the Old Town bank beside Charles Bridge, with “classic and Renaissance wings paying homage to Prague’s past”. BoHo, a former post office turned design hotel, is the smallest of the three closest to the square. It has 57 rooms.
Two more share Senovážné náměstí: The Julius, in a heritage building with interiors by Matteo Thun and Partners, and the Andaz, in the century-old Sugar Palace. Almanac X Alcron is the one for the Wenceslas Square market, since MICHELIN places it “just off Wenceslas Square”. The Augustine, in a 13th-century monastery below the castle, is due to reopen as a Kempinski in early 2027, as we set out in our piece on the hotel.
Field, La Degustation and Prague’s starred tables
Prague has five One-Star restaurants in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Czech Republic. Field, in the Old Town, is run by two friends. MICHELIN calls it “chic, minimalist”. La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise, on Haštalská, serves a set menu of “elegant, modern and well-balanced dishes”. Casa De Carli cooks Italian food with “a subtle North Italian bias” and closes at weekends.
The two others are further out. LEVITATE in Vinohrady, close to the Náměstí Míru market, combines “Nordic techniques, predominantly Czech ingredients and Asian spices”. Štangl in Karlín serves three- or five-course menus built on seasonal Czech produce. The Prague area’s only Two-Star restaurant, Papilio, is outside the city at Vysoký Újezd. None of the MICHELIN pages gives holiday hours, so book the Christmas and New Year evenings directly.
The Luxury.it perspective
Stay near Old Town Square. The Fairmont, the Four Seasons and BoHo all put the main market within a few minutes on foot, and the Wenceslas Square stalls are a short walk beyond it. The fullest stretch runs from 28 November to Christmas Eve, when all four markets are open. Come earlier and Náměstí Míru is the one to see, with LEVITATE a few streets away for dinner. Stay into the new year and the two central squares keep their stalls until Three Kings, with the procession crossing Charles Bridge on the final afternoon.
