Michelin Keys 2026 Champagne and Burgundy: 10 hotels, from Reims to Beaune

By Camilla De SantisOctober 28, 20265 min readDestinations Desk

Three of MICHELIN’s ten Key hotels in Champagne and Burgundy are new this year, all in the Côte-d’Or. Les Sources de Vougeot, a former priory of the abbots of Cîteaux, enters at Two Keys, and Hostellerie Cèdre in Beaune and Hostellerie de Levernois, just outside it, enter at One. The two hotels of the Champagne vineyards, Domaine Les Crayères in Reims and the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa at Champillon, keep their Three Keys, and five more Burgundy hotels keep One. That takes the list from seven hotels in 2025 to ten, with 297 rooms between them by our count. Les Sources de Vougeot is Burgundy’s only Two-Key hotel. The tiers come from MICHELIN’s complete list of the French Keys, published in French on 18 September; its English page for France still shows the 2025 selection. The timing suits the region: the Hospices de Beaune wine auction is on 15 November.

Ten hotels from Reims to the Morvan: the list, tier by tier

Tiers and towns are as MICHELIN prints them, and room counts are those in the header of each hotel’s MICHELIN page.

Three Domaine Les Crayères Reims 20
Three Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa Champillon 47
Two Les Sources de Vougeot (new) Gilly-lès-Cîteaux 49
One Hostellerie Cèdre (new) Beaune 40
One Hostellerie de Levernois (new) Levernois 39
One Château de la Resle Montigny-la-Resle 10
One COMO Le Montrachet Puligny-Montrachet 28
One Domaine de Rymska Saint-Jean-de-Trézy 14
One Le Relais Bernard Loiseau Saulieu 34
One Château de Vault-de-Lugny Vault-de-Lugny 16

MICHELIN files the seven Burgundy One-Key hotels under its Bourgogne-Franche-Comté heading, which also includes Château De Germigney at Port-Lesney, in the Jura, outside our scope. The largest of the ten is Les Sources de Vougeot, with 49 rooms. The smallest is Château de la Resle, with ten.

Three Keys in the Champagne vineyards: Les Crayères and the Royal Champagne

Domaine Les Crayères, at 64 boulevard Henry Vasnier in Reims, is a château with 20 rooms. “The parkland on which it sits is meticulously sculpted, with formal pebbled paths”, MICHELIN writes, and “the comforts are as modern as they come”. Its restaurant, Le Parc Les Crayères, holds two MICHELIN Stars, and Brasserie Le Jardin is the informal alternative. The inspectors count “its air of unpretentiousness” among its strengths. The service is “reassuringly professional”.

The Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa stands at Champillon, above Épernay. A renovation “added a modernist wing to the classic 19th-century coaching inn”, and the 47 rooms share “more or less the same expansive vineyard view” over “a valley planted with some pretty famous grapes”. The spa has indoor and outdoor pools. Le Royal holds one MICHELIN Star.

Les Sources de Vougeot: a former priory at Two Keys

“It’s only right that Burgundy should have some extraordinary hotels to match its extraordinary wines”, MICHELIN writes of Les Sources de Vougeot, at 2 Place du Château in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux. In a former life “it was a priory, the residence of the Cîteaux Abbots”, inside the walls of the Château de Gilly, beside the Clos de Vougeot vineyard. Its renovation was completed in 2026. There are 49 rooms. The Caudalie spa “is crafted from the old vaulted cellars of the château”, and wine features prominently, “not just at the table but in the Caudalie spa as well”. Two restaurants, the Auberge des Cîteaux and the fine-dining Clos de la Tour, sit within the walls, with a seasonal outdoor pool and a tennis court.

Beaune and the Côte de Beaune: four One-Key hotels

“Any proper European wine tour would have to pass through the medieval walled city of Beaune”, MICHELIN notes on the page of Hostellerie Cèdre, new at One Key. It is “a classic 19th-century townhouse right at the edge of the old town”, at 10 boulevard Maréchal Foch, with 40 rooms, a spa and a garden terrace where dinner comes with “more than 400 Burgundy wines”. Hostellerie de Levernois, also new, is a restored 18th-century villa in “a leafy park with hundred-year-old magnolia trees”, just outside Beaune. It has 39 rooms, suites and villas, with a stone-walled pool, a Sisley spa and a restaurant with a MICHELIN Star, according to the page.

South of Beaune, COMO Le Montrachet occupies four 19th-century buildings at Puligny-Montrachet, a village “most famous for its association with the Montrachet vineyard”. It has 28 rooms and suites, interiors by Paola Navone and tastings “both in the hotel’s cellar and in its wine bar”. Domaine de Rymska, at Saint-Jean-de-Trézy, is “an 80-hectare farming estate” with 14 rooms, livestock, gardens and orchards, and its restaurant “makes culinary art from the produce of the estate”. The Hospices de Beaune auction, and where to stay and eat for it, are in our guide to the 15 November sale.

The Morvan and the Yonne: Saulieu, Vault-de-Lugny and La Resle

At Saulieu, Le Relais Bernard Loiseau has 34 rooms, “each one individually designed and decorated”, and its restaurant, La Côte d’Or, under chef Patrick Bertron, holds two MICHELIN Stars, which makes it one of the two tables on this list at that level. “It’s not every country inn that features a Roman-style spa”, MICHELIN notes. There is also an outdoor pool “in the midst of what the French call an English garden”, and a library and billiards room named after Charles X.

Château de Vault-de-Lugny is a 17th-century residence. It stands at the northern edge of the Morvan and is “set on a hundred acres of parkland, whose earliest roots can be traced to the year 1120”. It is small, with “a mere 13 rooms and three suites”, an indoor pool, tennis and riding. Guests can even “fish for pike in the castle’s medieval moat”. Château de la Resle, at Montigny-la-Resle near Chablis, has just ten rooms. “This is quite a big place, by the way, to house just ten rooms”, MICHELIN writes. “What really makes it work, however, is just how warm it all feels”, it adds. Its table d’hôte cooks organic, local produce, from Friday to Tuesday.

The Luxury.it perspective

Champagne and Burgundy’s Key hotels follow the vines. The Champagne pair sit in Reims and above Épernay, and every Burgundy name lies within reach of a famous appellation, from the Clos de Vougeot to Montrachet and Chablis. The three new names all cluster around Beaune, which makes the Côte-d’Or the place to base a trip, and two of the ten have restaurants with two MICHELIN Stars, Le Parc Les Crayères and La Côte d’Or. The calendar helps. The Hospices de Beaune auction falls on 15 November, during the Trois Glorieuses weekend. Book early. For France’s other great wine country, the 22 Key hotels from the Médoc to Biarritz are in our list for Bordeaux.
