Michelin Keys 2026 Normandy and Brittany: 13 hotels, from Honfleur to Roscoff

By Camilla De SantisOctober 28, 20265 min readDestinations Desk

Grand Hôtel de Courtoisville, on the Sillon beach at Saint-Malo since 1906, is new to MICHELIN’s list. It enters with One Key, one of four new names among the 13 Key hotels of Normandy and Brittany. The others are Maison Douce Époque, in a 1909 manor house near Deauville, Domaine de Locguénolé above the Blavet river and Hôtel de la Plage at Sainte-Anne-la-Palud. Three hold Two Keys: La Ferme Saint-Siméon in Honfleur, Castelbrac in Dinard and Château Richeux, whose restaurant, Le Coquillage, has Three MICHELIN Stars. All nine hotels on the 2025 list keep their tier, so the two regions go from nine Key hotels to 13, with 350 rooms between them by our count. Brittany has ten. MICHELIN published the complete French list on 18 September, in French only, and its English page for France still shows the 2025 selection.

Saint-Malo, Dinard and the bay of Mont Saint-Michel hold four of the 13, among them two of the three Two-Key hotels, and Dinard alone has two. The largest is Courtoisville, with 63 rooms. The smallest, Villa Haute Guais in Dinard, has five. Ten have a spa and nine a pool.

Two Keys: Honfleur, Dinard and the bay of Mont Saint-Michel

La Ferme Saint-Siméon stands above the Seine estuary at Honfleur, an old port that “has long been a magnet for artists”. The hotel is “something of a throwback to those days around the birth of Impressionism”, MICHELIN writes, describing “an elegant farmhouse with half-timbered ceilings and slate roofs”, 35 rooms and a spa “with its tiled indoor pool, surrounded by murals and bathed in that legendary Channel light”. The chef at La Boucane, its restaurant, is Matthieu Pouleur.

Castelbrac, in Dinard, was a natural history museum until 1992. “Now it’s a 23-room hotel that feels like a destination in its own right”, MICHELIN notes. Every room looks out over the water, and on many private terraces “breakfast can be served on request”. The lap pool is long, narrow and lined in stone. The old aquarium is now a bar, and the restaurant is called Pourquoi Pas.

Château Richeux “dates back only to the 1920s”. It looks across the bay at Mont Saint-Michel. Around it, Les Maisons de Bricourt add “a clifftop boutique hotel called Les Rimains, some charming seaside cabins” and the Ferme du Vent cottages, and the Bains Celtiques spa fills the old farmhouse. MICHELIN’s header gives 12 rooms. Guests can walk the gardens, the greenhouse and the working farm, and the restaurant, Le Coquillage, holds Three MICHELIN Stars in the 2026 guide.

Normandy at One Key: Deauville and the Alabaster Coast

Maison Douce Époque is new. It is a manor house at Benerville-sur-Mer, next to Deauville, “built in 1909” and “upgraded to its present form in 2025”, with rooms in the main house and the former stables. With 14 rooms and suites, “it still feels somewhat like a private residence”, MICHELIN writes. There is a spa with an indoor pool, a seasonal outdoor pool and a gastronomic restaurant, Le Romanesque. Les Pins de César, at Saint-Jouin-Bruneval on the cliffs north of Le Havre, stands “in a nature preserve full of Austrian black pines”. It has 19 rooms, breakfast in the winter garden and a Nuxe spa “featuring a 40-foot indoor pool”, with a sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi.

Saint-Malo, Dinard, Finistère and the Pink Granite Coast

At Saint-Malo, Courtoisville was renovated in 2022 by the interior designer Hervé Riaudet. Its 63 rooms “range from Superior to suite”, the Courtoisville Spa has “a pool, sauna, six treatment rooms and a herbal tea room”, and Restaurant 1906 serves Breton seafood. Across the Rance in Dinard, Villa Haute Guais is a 19th-century villa facing the sea, half hotel and half private house in MICHELIN’s description, with five rooms and suites designed by Sophie Bannier.

Hôtel de la Plage, new this year, “has been looking out across the Atlantic Ocean since 1895” at Sainte-Anne-la-Palud, on the bay of Douarnenez. It has 19 rooms, a spa with two outdoor hot tubs and a seasonal pool. At Roscoff, Le Brittany & Spa is “a 17th-century trader’s house dismantled and reconstructed, one brick at a time”, with only a retaining wall between it and the beach, 32 rooms and suites, an indoor pool and a MICHELIN-Starred restaurant. On the Pink Granite Coast, Manoir de Lan-Kerellec at Trébeurden “keeps watch from its clifftop perch over the picturesque islands of Milliau, Molène and Losquet”. It has 18 rooms. The beach cabanas are five minutes’ walk away, and the chef at its MICHELIN-Starred restaurant is Anthony Avoine.

The Morbihan: Billiers, Kervignac and La Gacilly

Domaine de Rochevilaine, on the Pointe de Pen Lan at Billiers, “feels more like a tiny Breton hamlet than a hotel”. Two centuries-old stone manor houses, a fisherman’s cottage and a granite castle stand on the site of a historic abbey, with 34 rooms that all face the sea, and in the spa “treatments include marine-based salt scrubs and seaweed wraps”. Domaine de Locguénolé, new this year at Kervignac, is “set on a wooded estate overlooking the Blavet river”, with apple orchards, a greenhouse and “resident goats, chickens, and ducks”. It has 47 rooms, a spa, an indoor pool, a seasonal outdoor pool and tennis courts. Its restaurant, L’Inattendu, holds one MICHELIN Star. Inland at La Gacilly, La Grée des Landes is an eco-hotel on a wooded hilltop, with a green roof, solar panels and organic gardens. It has 29 rooms, a spa with a hammam and an indoor pool, and a house specialty: “a flower bath incorporating blooms from the fragrant fields outside”.

The Luxury.it perspective

Three of the four new names date from between 1895 and 1909: Hôtel de la Plage, Courtoisville and Maison Douce Époque. Much of the list works the same way, with old houses on the coast brought up to date and given spas and pools for the months when the beaches are empty. In late autumn and winter, the cluster around Saint-Malo works best, with Castelbrac, Château Richeux, Villa Haute Guais and Courtoisville a short drive apart and Le Coquillage’s Three Stars at the centre. From Paris, the three Normandy hotels are the nearest. The capital’s own Key hotels are in our Paris list, and the wine country is in our Champagne and Burgundy list.
