On the Costa Smeralda, dinner is decided at anchor.
Sometime around six, on a hundred boats between the Maddalena archipelago and Cala di Volpe, the same conversation happens: where tonight. The coast’s reputation says the answer is a famous terrace and a famous bill. The coast’s regulars know the truth is wider: a Milanese seafood house on the marina, a Nikkei counter behind the Piazzetta, a granite village ten minutes inland, and farmhouse tables in the Gallura hills where the porceddu has been turning since morning.
This is that map, edited to twenty. The pins follow you as you read. Tap one and the page comes to you.
Porto Cervo · Seafood Institution
Langosteria Porto Cervo

Milan’s definitive seafood house brought its ritual to the marina, and the marina behaved as if it had always been waiting. The codes are intact: the raw selection, the king crab, the scampi treated like jewellery, service that moves at Milanese speed even in August. Langosteria is the list’s marquee for a reason. When the boat conversation ends in a tie, this is where it lands.
Porto Cervo · Creative Fine Dining
ConFusion Boutique Restaurant

Italo Bassi cooked at the very top of Italian fine dining before bringing his precision to Porto Cervo, and ConFusion is exactly what the name promises: technique from the grand kitchens, played against the Mediterranean without solemnity. This is the coast’s table for the night you want the cooking itself to be the event, tasting menu, wine pairing, the full argument.
Porto Cervo · Modern Sardinian
Frades La Terrazza

Frades means brothers in Sardinian, and the project has always been exactly that: island cooking, carried by islanders, refined without being translated away. The Porto Cervo terrace gives Gallura’s pastoral kitchen a front-row seat on the coast’s most polished stage, fregola, suckling pig, island cheeses, done with the confidence of people who never needed to import an identity.
Porto Cervo · Dinner & Scene
Vesta Porto Cervo

Every summer capital needs the table where dinner refuses to end, and in Porto Cervo that job belongs to Vesta. Mediterranean plates built for the long table, a room designed to warm up as the night does, and the kind of energy that makes reservations at ten feel early. Come with a group, order for the middle of the table, and do not plan anything for the morning.
Porto Cervo · Nikkei
Pacifico Rosemary

Pacifico made Nikkei cooking a fixture of Italian nightlife, and its Porto Cervo summer address runs the playbook at holiday temperature: ceviches and tiraditos with real acidity, robata smoke, pisco behind the bar and a room that understands the aperitivo can legally become dinner. The sharpest non-Italian plates on the coast, served where the evening is already going.
Porto Cervo · Classic by the Water
Hivaoa

Some addresses survive every wave of fashion by simply refusing to notice it. Hivaoa has fed the coast since long before the current vocabulary existed: fish chosen by sight, pasta with whatever the boats brought, tables close enough to the water to hear it. It is the dinner that regulars keep for themselves and the correction for anyone who thinks this coast only performs.
Cala di Volpe · Japanese-Peruvian Icon
Matsuhisa at Cala di Volpe

Nobu Matsuhisa’s kitchen inside the coast’s most mythologised hotel is the Costa Smeralda handshake: black cod and yellowtail jalapeño served above the bay that taught Europe what summer wealth looks like. This season the hotel wears Dolce&Gabbana’s Maiolica Gialla, which makes the walk to the table part of the show. Book the sunset seating and surrender to it.
Poltu Quatu · Coastal Mediterranean
Tanit

The signature table of the W that changed Poltu Quatu’s summer, Tanit cooks the Mediterranean with the volume slightly up: island fish, herbs from the macchia, plates built for the golden hour when the fjord turns to glass. It is the new energy of the little harbour on a plate, best experienced from a table at the edge of the evening.
Poltu Quatu · Japanese
IYO Poltu Quatu

Milan’s most decorated Japanese kitchen chose the hidden fjord for its Sardinian summer, and the fit is precise: IYO’s discipline, nigiri, sashimi and a raw bar of surgical cleanliness, set against granite walls and masts. It gives Poltu Quatu something Porto Cervo cannot copy by decree, a destination kitchen that rewards the short drive or, better, the arrival by tender.
Baja Sardinia · Seaview Dining
Capogiro

The name means dizziness, and the terrace at 7Pines earns it honestly: the table hangs over the channel toward the Maddalena islands, and the Mediterranean menu has learned not to compete with the view, clean fish, bright vegetables, a wine list that respects the sunset schedule. Baja Sardinia owns the coast’s westward light, and Capogiro is its best seat.
San Pantaleo · Gallurese Kitchen
Giagoni in Piazza

On the granite square of San Pantaleo, the Giagoni family serves the Gallura the coast forgets exists: zuppa gallurese, handmade pasta, meat and mountain herbs, cooked with the authority of people who did not learn this cuisine, they inherited it. Ten minutes from the Piazzetta and one full civilisation away, this is the dinner that recalibrates the whole holiday.
San Pantaleo · Fine Dining in the Hills
Il Fuoco Sacro

Above San Pantaleo, inside the Relais & Châteaux calm of Petra Segreta, Il Fuoco Sacro cooks the island’s interior with fine-dining grammar: fire, granite, garden produce and a terrace where the coast glitters at a civilised distance. It is the list’s most complete answer to the question the Costa Smeralda rarely asks itself, what if the best table of the night faced the hills.
San Pantaleo · Garden Dining
Agave San Pantaleo

Agave is San Pantaleo’s contemporary register: a garden of candlelight and granite boulders, cocktails taken seriously, a Mediterranean kitchen that moves lighter than the village’s pastoral classics. The village’s artists and the coast’s escapees share the tables in a truce that works. Start with a drink under the trees, stay when the kitchen convinces you, and it will.
Porto Rotondo · Contemporary Sardinian
Deste

Porto Rotondo has always known how to be pleasant; Deste is its bid to be interesting. Sardinian flavours rebuilt with contemporary intent, island ingredients pushed past nostalgia, a room and a view that look forward rather than back. It is the young table of the gulf, and the one that suggests Porto Rotondo’s next decade might be more ambitious than its last.
Porto Rotondo · The Institution
Da Giovannino

Every coast has one dining room where the last half-century of its social history has eaten, and in Porto Rotondo it is Da Giovannino. The cooking is classic Italian done properly, but the reservation buys something rarer: continuity. Politicians, industrialists, and their grandchildren at the same tables, treated by a room that has seen everything and repeats nothing.
Porto Rotondo · Garden & Grill
Bambusa Porto Rotondo

A garden folded into the green above the marina, Bambusa runs the summer formula Porto Rotondo does best: long tables under the vegetation, grill smoke, plates made for sharing and evenings that resist their own ending. Less a statement than a rhythm, and on the right July night, the rhythm is the statement.
Gallura · Farmhouse Table
Agriturismo La Kustera

The agriturismo is Gallura’s parallel restaurant system, and La Kustera is the way in: a working farmstead in the granite countryside where dinner arrives as a procession, antipasti of the house, handmade pasta, the porceddu, seadas with corbezzolo honey, wine from down the road. Fixed menu, communal generosity, and a bill that reads like a typo after a week on the coast.
Gallura · Farmhouse Table
Agriturismo Candela

Candela keeps the format honest: family kitchen, farm produce, courses that keep arriving until surrender, and the particular Gallurese hospitality that treats a full table as the natural state of the world. Book ahead in season, come hungry beyond reason, and accept that lunch here cancels dinner as a concept.
Gallura · Farmhouse Table
Agriturismo Lu Branu

Among the best-known farm tables of the Arzachena hills, Lu Branu has converted a generation of Costa Smeralda visitors to the interior’s cause: stone rooms, long wooden tables, the fire doing the real cooking, and a menu that has not needed changing because it was never wrong. This is where the coast sends its guests when it wants them to understand the island.
Gallura · Farmhouse Table with a View
Lu Rotu Agriturismo

Lu Rotu adds the panorama to the formula: the farmhouse sits high enough that the Gallura rolls away toward the sea while the courses roll toward you. The kitchen is the classic canon done with care, and the view does what the coast’s terraces charge triple for. End the list here at sunset and the twenty tables resolve into one simple truth: this island feeds you best when it feeds you as itself.
How to eat this coast
Alternate the registers. One marquee night on the Promenade, then a village night in San Pantaleo. The Nikkei counter or the Japanese fjord one evening, an agriturismo the next day at lunch, when the porceddu is at its best and the afternoon can absorb it. Book the coast addresses days ahead in July and August; the farmhouses forgive less than you think in high season, so call them too. And at least once, arrive somewhere by tender: this coast was designed to be entered from the water, and its tables know it.
Luxury.it perspective
The Costa Smeralda’s reputation is a bill. Its reality is a radius: within twenty minutes of the Piazzetta sit Milanese seafood royalty, serious Japanese kitchens, granite villages and farm tables that make this one of the most complete eating coasts in the Mediterranean. The visitors who leave disappointed only ever sat in the front row. The ones who return every year learned to move between the stage and the island behind it. These twenty tables are the map of that movement.
