Tiffany has released its second Timer chronograph of 2026, in Grade 5 titanium, platinum and navy blue.
Gone are the first edition’s full platinum case, its Tiffany Blue dial and its diamond hour markers.
One hundred pieces, arriving in September, following the 60-piece edition shown earlier this year for the 160th anniversary of the original Tiffany Timer.
This is a different watch, not a colour variant. The first was built on jewellery codes and instant recognition; the second is a wearable high-frequency chronograph that keeps exactly one theatrical gesture, and keeps it on the back.
The Timer name reaches back to 1866
Tiffany’s own timeline puts the first Tiffany Timer in 1866 and calls it America’s first stopwatch.
The 2026 watch reproduces nothing. It takes the name and the anniversary as a starting point for a modern automatic chronograph built with the watchmaking resources sitting inside LVMH.
Collectors should hold that distinction. Heritage supplies legitimacy and nothing else: judge the object on its movement, its proportions, its construction and its service support.
Titanium changes how the 40 mm case should wear
Forty millimetres across, about 13.05 thick. Satin-brushed Grade 5 titanium for the case, polished 950 platinum for the bezel, 100 metres of water resistance.
Keeping platinum only on the bezel holds the jewellery connection while dropping most of the mass that defined the first edition.
The crown echoes the six-prong Tiffany Setting from the engagement rings, with large curved chronograph pushers wrapping around it. That flank is the most recognisable thing about the watch.
Try it on. Titanium can make a watch startlingly light while a platinum bezel pulls weight forward, and comfort will come from the balance between case, strap and folding clasp rather than from 40 millimetres on a specification sheet.
Navy blue replaces the first model’s immediate Tiffany signal
Sunray-brushed navy underneath, with Tiffany Blue held back for the subdial rings, the outer scale and the date.
White-gold hands and applied markers replace baguette diamonds. No report so far mentions luminous material anywhere.
So it reads conventionally at arm’s length. The house colour is present without running the dial.
Anyone who found the first release too tightly bound to Tiffany Blue will prefer this. Anyone who buys a Tiffany watch for jewellery-level recognition across a room will find it quieter than they wanted.
The movement comes from Zenith
Inside sits a customised Zenith El Primero 400.
Five hertz, 36,000 vibrations per hour, column wheel, horizontal clutch, and a published power reserve of roughly 50 hours.
Not an in-house Tiffany calibre, then. Zenith is another LVMH house, and high-frequency chronographs are what it has always done.
The El Primero brings a proven technical base and a service network that already exists. The questions worth asking are how far Tiffany has changed it beyond decoration, and who actually opens the caseback in ten years: Tiffany, Zenith, or an LVMH watchmaking centre.
The Bird on a Rock appears on the rotor
Turn it over. An 18-carat yellow-gold Bird on a Rock is built into the winding rotor.
The motif is Jean Schlumberger’s, a bird perched above a major gemstone. Here it turns with the rotor instead of standing over a diamond.
Putting it there was disciplined. The dial stays controlled while the back carries the one element tied directly to Tiffany’s high-jewellery history.
Whether a sculpted rotor winds as freely as a plain one is an open question, and no independent long-term testing exists. Handle the watch, listen to the rotor, look at the finishing. A static image answers none of it.
The second edition is less rare but potentially easier to wear
The first 2026 Timer was limited to 60 pieces. The titanium and platinum edition increases production to 100.
Neither number is large. Spread 100 watches across the major Tiffany markets and the existing client book and availability stays theoretical.
The real difference is material. Lighter case, ordinary markers, darker dial: far more adaptable than platinum and baguette diamonds.
Discreet it is not. Crown, pushers, Tiffany Blue accents, a gold bird turning on the back.
The reported price needs confirmation
Monochrome puts the US price at $28,000. T3 says price on application.
That gap means confirming the boutique price, the local taxes, the deposit and the delivery date directly with Tiffany before anything is agreed.
Pricing may also differ across currencies and markets. A converted US figure should not be presented as a guaranteed European retail price.
At this level, the comparison extends beyond the first Tiffany Timer. Buyers can consider established chronographs from Zenith itself, independent manufacturers and large Swiss maisons with deeper secondary-market histories.
A hundred pieces is scarcity, not value
A hundred pieces creates scarcity. Scarcity guarantees neither appreciation nor liquidity.
Where this watch ends up in the collector market depends on whether Tiffany stays committed to mechanical watchmaking, on the quality of what follows, on allocation, on service, and on how many turn up at auction over the next decade.
The watch should be bought because its combination of titanium, platinum, El Primero mechanics and Tiffany jewellery codes is convincing to the owner.
Buying principally because the caseback states a limited edition leaves too much of the argument dependent on future buyers.
What to ask before accepting an allocation
- Final price: confirm the amount in the relevant currency, including tax.
- Delivery: establish whether the individual watch will arrive during September or later.
- Movement service: ask who handles the customised El Primero calibre.
- Rotor: confirm whether the gold sculpture changes standard service requirements.
- Warranty: obtain the full duration and registration conditions.
- Strap: ask about replacement availability and alternative materials.
- Edition number: establish whether numbers are allocated or selected.

The second Tiffany Timer is more persuasive as a watch than as an anniversary object.
Titanium reduces weight, navy blue gives the dial greater range and the Zenith El Primero provides a credible mechanical foundation. The platinum bezel and gold Bird on a Rock preserve enough jewellery character to prevent the design from becoming anonymous.
The first Timer announced Tiffany’s horological ambition loudly. The second is the model more owners may actually choose to wear.
