Michelin Keys 2026 Côte d’Azur and Monaco: 24 hotels, 5 with three keys

By Alessandro ContiOctober 24, 20266 min readOpenings Desk

Monaco’s three MICHELIN Key hotels sit one in each tier in 2026. Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo holds Three Keys, the Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo Two and the Hermitage Monte-Carlo, new to the list, One. Along the coast, from the Saint-Tropez peninsula to Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, with Théoule-sur-Mer, Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Vence, MICHELIN’s 2026 list for France, which includes Monaco, counts 24 Key hotels by our count: five at Three Keys, nine at Two and ten at One. There were 21 in 2025. Two hotels moved up. Le Château de la Chèvre d’Or, in Èze, now holds Three Keys, and La Réserve de Beaulieu holds Two. Three names are new at One Key: the Hermitage, Maison Albar – Le Victoria in Nice and La Ponche in Saint-Tropez. The other 19 keep their 2025 tiers. MICHELIN published the 2026 list for France in French on 18 September; its English page still shows the 2025 selection.

Three Keys: Ramatuelle, Antibes, Cap-Ferrat, Èze and Monte-Carlo

The five Three-Key hotels cover the whole coast. At the tip of Cap d’Antibes, the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc has 118 rooms, and MICHELIN writes that “The hotel’s grandeur hasn’t dimmed since the days of F. Scott Fitzgerald”, with “a salt-water swimming pool carved from the rock face”. Le Château de la Chèvre d’Or is the promotion. Its “45 rooms and suites are scattered throughout the village” of Èze, on Rue du Barri. The views “range from Saint Jean Cap Ferrat to Cannes”. In Monte-Carlo, the Hôtel de Paris has 209 rooms on the Place du Casino, after “a 21st-century renovation by architect Richard Martinet and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon”.

La Réserve Ramatuelle, above the beaches of Saint-Tropez, has 40 rooms, suites and villas and a Spa Nescens with an indoor pool, and “Its modest size adds to its discreetly hushed atmosphere,” the inspectors write. Its page says it closed for the season from 12 October. At Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, has 75 rooms. “A 2009 renovation added a new wing, featuring terrace rooms and suites with private pools,” MICHELIN notes, and “a funicular connects the hotel to the beach below”.

The tiers are MICHELIN’s, and the room counts are those of each hotel’s page.

Two Keys: nine hotels from Gigaro to Cap-Martin

La Réserve de Beaulieu, the other promotion, began in 1880 as a restaurant, and “in 1905 it added its first guest rooms, and a hospitality legend was born.” It has 39 rooms, suites and villas. Château Eza, also in Èze, is the smallest hotel on the list, with 14 rooms and suites: “The smallest ones open onto the medieval village,” MICHELIN writes, “while the larger ones look out to sea”. On the Saint-Tropez peninsula, Lily of The Valley has 53 rooms at Gigaro, “with design by Philippe Starck”, and the Airelles Château de la Messardière has 86 in a château and its estate villas. Cheval Blanc St-Tropez has 32 on the beach, in a building that “is close to a century old”. Its restaurant, La Vague d’Or, “has earned no fewer than three MICHELIN Stars”, in the inspectors’ words.

Further east, Le Negresco has 130 rooms on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, where “The doormen come dressed in flamboyantly colorful uniforms”. In Monte-Carlo, the Metropole has 125 rooms with interiors by Jacques Garcia. At Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, The Maybourne Riviera, from the group behind Claridge’s and The Connaught, is “No boardwalk grand hotel”, in MICHELIN’s words, but a modernist building on a rocky cliff, with 69 rooms. Inland, Le Domaine du Mas de Pierre has 76 rooms in “a compound of stone farmhouses surrounded by gardens and olive trees” below Saint-Paul-de-Vence. All nine are in our list of France’s Two-Key hotels.

One Key: ten addresses from Théoule to the Hermitage

The largest Key hotel on the coast is a One-Key newcomer. The Hermitage Monte-Carlo has 262 rooms, and MICHELIN advises that “The only way to do this town properly is to leave your taste for minimalism at home”. Nice adds the other new name, Maison Albar – Le Victoria, with 132 rooms and a rooftop pool “looking down at the azure of the Mediterranean”. The Hotel du Couvent, also in Nice, has 88 rooms in a former convent, where “A resident herbalist brews up teas and other remedies to order”. In Saint-Tropez, La Ponche, new to the list, has 21 rooms and suites, plus three apartments, and “a cocktail menu inspired by the hotel’s most famous former guests”, while Arev St. Tropez has 24 rooms in “maritime blue, white, and red”.

The rest are old buildings with second lives. The Royal-Riviera, at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, opened in 1904. The Château de Théoule was “Built in the 17th century as a soap factory” and stands above the port of Théoule-sur-Mer. The Château Saint-Martin, at Vence, was a Roman fortification and later a commandery of the Knights Templar, and its grounds now include tennis and a pickleball court. The Château de Valmer, at La Croix-Valmer, sits “within its own vineyards and gardens”, and Toile Blanche, at Saint-Paul-de-Vence, has 16 suites that “mix rustic Provençal architecture with modern furniture”.

Monaco, Saint-Tropez and Nice: where the Keys cluster

The Saint-Tropez peninsula, with La Croix-Valmer, holds seven of the 24 hotels and 300 rooms, by our count, the largest cluster on the coast. Monaco has three hotels and 596 rooms, Nice three, and Èze two, both inside the medieval village. Eleven of the 24 have fewer than 50 rooms. A few names recur. Pierre-Yves Rochon worked on the Hôtel de Paris and on the Cap-Ferrat wing, and Jacques Garcia on La Réserve Ramatuelle and the Metropole. With five Three-Key hotels, the coast has more than any Italian region in 2026, by our count of MICHELIN’s two lists.

The Luxury.it perspective

The Riviera list is a guide to 2027 rather than to this autumn. Several of these hotels close for the winter. La Réserve Ramatuelle is one. For most of the coast, the season that matters starts again in spring. The list is also a lesson in range. A Three-Key palace on the Place du Casino and a 14-room hotel in a medieval village hold the same coast, and the Hermitage, the largest, sits at One Key. For travellers going on to Italy, our lists for the Amalfi Coast and Capri and Lake Como follow the same format.
