Michelin Keys 2026 Lake Como: all 8 hotels, and Villa d’Este moves up to Two

By Camilla De SantisOctober 22, 20264 min readDestinations Desk

Villa d’Este moves up to Two MICHELIN Keys in 2026, and Lake Como now has eight Key hotels. There were seven in 2025. Passalacqua, at Moltrasio, remains the lake’s only Three-Key hotel, and Villa d’Este joins Il Sereno, Grand Hotel Tremezzo and Grand Hotel Victoria at Two. The Lake Como EDITION is the new name, at One Key, beside Villa Làrio and Palazzo Albricci Peregrini. The other six keep their 2025 tiers. MICHELIN gives no total for the lake. The eight are our count of its 2026 list for Italy, published on 18 September, and the details come from each hotel’s MICHELIN page.

Eight hotels in eight towns, shore by shore

All eight are in the province of Como: five on the western shore, two on the eastern shore and one in Como itself.

Town Hotel Keys
Moltrasio (west) Passalacqua Three
Cernobbio (west) Villa d’Este (up from One) Two
Tremezzina (west) Grand Hotel Tremezzo Two
Menaggio (west) Grand Hotel Victoria Two
Griante Cadenabbia (west) The Lake Como EDITION (new) One
Torno (east) Il Sereno Two
Pognana Lario (east) Villa Làrio One
Como Palazzo Albricci Peregrini One

Passalacqua at Moltrasio, still the lake’s single Three-Key hotel

Passalacqua has 24 suites at Via Besana 59, in three buildings: 12 in the villa, eight in the Palazz and four in the Casa al Lago. It was “Inaugurated as a luxury hotel in 2022”, MICHELIN writes, but the house’s history goes back much further: the composer Vincenzo Bellini stayed there in 1829, the inspectors recall. The spa has an indoor pool, and the hotel is “just steps from the water”. It held Three Keys in 2025 too. Nothing has changed at the top. Its rooms and suites, building by building, are in our guide to Passalacqua.

Villa d’Este, 152 rooms at Cernobbio, now at Two Keys

MICHELIN calls Villa d’Este “one of the world’s most famous grand hotels, and deservedly so”. It has 152 rooms at Via Regina 40, in Cernobbio. It is the lake’s only promotion in 2026. The villa was built in 1568 and welcomed its first hotel guests in 1873, according to MICHELIN. It opens from March to November. The pool floats on the lake. “The views of the lake are of course the most sought after,” the inspectors add. Its private villas are in our report on the villas of Villa d’Este.

Il Sereno, Grand Hotel Tremezzo and Grand Hotel Victoria hold Two

All three already held Two Keys in 2025. On the eastern shore, Il Sereno, at Via Torrazza 10 in Torno, is “the first new hotel to be built on these shores in years”, in MICHELIN’s words, and Patricia Urquiola oversaw its design. “There’s not a bad seat in the house,” the inspectors add. On the western shore, Grand Hotel Tremezzo has 77 rooms and suites at Via Statale 5401, in Tremezzina. “Since 1910, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo has embodied a dream,” MICHELIN writes. It has three pools and the T Spa. The season runs from mid-March to the end of October. Further north, Grand Hotel Victoria has 73 rooms at Viale Benedetto Castelli 9, in Menaggio, which MICHELIN places “in one of Lake Como’s quieter stretches”. Its restaurants are the fine-dining Gourmet 1827 and the more casual Lago, and its spa is called ERRE. The four Two-Key hotels are among the 49 in our list of Italy’s Two-Key hotels.

The Lake Como EDITION enters at One Key

The new name is also one of the two largest. The Lake Como EDITION, at Via Regina 41 in Griante Cadenabbia, facing Bellagio, has 148 rooms. It is new to the list. “The Lake Como EDITION recasts a 19th-century palazzo through a contemporary lens,” MICHELIN writes, and dining runs “from refined Italian at Renzo to a relaxed poolside setting”. There is a floating pool and a private dock. Villa Làrio, at Pognana Lario on the eastern shore, has 18 rooms in three buildings, with an infinity pool and its own dock. “The coziest of the three villas is the adorable Garden Suite,” according to MICHELIN. In Como, Palazzo Albricci Peregrini has 10 rooms in the historic centre’s limited-traffic zone. “It’s owned by a family, still in residence,” the inspectors write. There is no restaurant. MICHELIN mentions a chef’s dinner instead, at 55 euros.

The Luxury.it perspective

Lake Como’s Keys follow the western shore. Five of the eight are on it, from Moltrasio to Menaggio, and Via Regina, the old road along that shore, passes both Villa d’Este and the EDITION. The lake is also seasonal. Villa d’Este opens from March to November, Grand Hotel Tremezzo from mid-March to the end of October and Il Sereno from mid-March to early November. With the 2026 season closing in November, the new Two-Key name is mostly a booking for 2027. With four Two-Key hotels, the lake has one more than Florence, whose 14 Key hotels are in our full list for Florence. For dinner, MICHELIN added Roteo, at the Musa hotel in Sala Comacina, to its Italian selection in October, as in our report on the October additions. Bellagio and Varenna have their own tables, in our guide to their restaurants.
