Michelin Keys 2026 Alsace: all 7 hotels, from Strasbourg to Colmar

By Camilla De SantisOctober 31, 20264 min readDestinations Desk

Colmar’s six Christmas markets open on 23 November, four days before Strasbourg’s. Between the two cities, MICHELIN lists seven Key hotels in Alsace for 2026, the same seven as in 2025: La Cheneaudière holds Two Keys and six hotels hold One, with 258 rooms between them by our count. Les Haras is the one in Strasbourg and La Maison des Têtes the one in Colmar. Six of the seven have a Starred restaurant, according to their MICHELIN pages. The table is half the reason to come. The tiers come from MICHELIN’s complete list for France, published in French on 18 September, where three of the seven appear simply under “Alsace”.

Seven hotels from the Vosges to the Rhine: the Alsace list

Towns are those on each hotel’s MICHELIN page, and room counts come from the page headers.

Keys Hotel Town Rooms
Two La Cheneaudière Hôtel & Spa Colroy-la-Roche 45
One Le Chambard Kaysersberg 31
One Villa René Lalique Wingen-sur-Moder 6
One La Maison des Têtes Colmar 21
One Hôtel des Berges (Auberge de l’Ill) Illhaeusern 19
One L’Auberge du Cheval Blanc et Spa Lembach 21
One Les Haras Strasbourg 115

Four are in the Bas-Rhin and three in the Haut-Rhin. Les Haras is the largest, with 115 rooms, and Villa René Lalique the smallest, with six suites. Five have a spa.

Strasbourg and Colmar: Les Haras and La Maison des Têtes

Les Haras, at 23 rue des Glacières in Strasbourg, is a design hotel in an 18th-century building, with 115 rooms and a spa that “includes a hammam, a sauna, a 17-meter pool, and an impressively outfitted gym”. “The rooms and suites are large and feel even larger thanks to the minimalist aesthetic”, MICHELIN writes. It is the only Key hotel in the city of the Christkindelsmärik.

In Colmar, La Maison des Têtes is “a small hotel in a unique building from 1609”, “named for the sculpted heads that adorn its façade”. “Inside, it’s been given a thoroughly modern makeover”, and some of its 21 rooms “are spacious enough for a family of four”, while the two restaurants are the Brasserie Historique and a MICHELIN-Starred dining room, as the page describes it.

The wine route and the Vosges: La Cheneaudière, Le Chambard and the Hôtel des Berges

La Cheneaudière, at Colroy-la-Roche in the Vosges, opened in 1974 and “has gone from strength to strength over the last half century”. It is the region’s only Two-Key hotel. It has 45 rooms in colours “inspired by the nearby forest and Vosges mountains”, a spa on three floors with indoor and outdoor pools, and two restaurants, Le Chêne and Le Feuillage, which holds one MICHELIN Star. In Kaysersberg, Le Chambard has 31 rooms, an indoor pool and spa and a Starred dining room. “Kaysersberg may be postcard-pretty, but Le Chambard turns it into something cinematic”, in MICHELIN’s words.

At Illhaeusern, the Hôtel des Berges sits on the bank of the Ill beside the two-MICHELIN-Star Auberge de l’Ill, and its 19 rooms are split between the original house and “a modern glass and wood structure with a minimalist, almost futuristic Japanese aesthetic and a sleek organic spa”. “Indoor and outdoor pools provide diversion year-round, and the gardens on the riverbank are gorgeous”, MICHELIN adds.

Northern Alsace: Villa René Lalique and the Cheval Blanc at Lembach

Villa René Lalique, at Wingen-sur-Moder, “feels less like a hotel and more like stepping into the private world of its namesake”, with six suites, “each referencing the textures and forms of Lalique’s glasswork”, and a Starred restaurant, with woods and hills on every side. Lalique’s other hotel, in Zurich, is in our piece on Villa Florhof. At Lembach, L’Auberge du Cheval Blanc et Spa is an 1822 coaching inn whose restaurant has been a fixture since 1907 and holds a MICHELIN Star. Its “21 eclectic-luxe rooms and suites are joined by a lovely modern spa, added in 2015”.

The Christmas markets in 2026: the official dates

Strasbourg’s market runs from 27 November to 24 December 2026, according to the city, “in keeping with a tradition dating back to 1570”. Colmar’s six markets run from 23 November to 29 December, according to the town’s tourist office. They open from 11:00 to 19:00 from Monday to Thursday and from 10:00 to 20:00 from Friday to Sunday, and close at 17:00 on 24 December. They open on Christmas Day. The food market and the big wheel stay until 3 January. The wine villages around Colmar, Kaysersberg among them, hold smaller markets of their own.

The Luxury.it perspective

Alsace’s list is small and stable, and its strength is at the table. Six of the seven hotels have a Starred restaurant on site, and the Cheval Blanc at Lembach has been a fixture since 1907. For the markets the choice is simple. Les Haras is the Strasbourg base, La Maison des Têtes the Colmar one, and Le Chambard and the Hôtel des Berges sit in the wine country between them. Book the dinner with the room.
