MICHELIN gave Two Keys to 39 hotels in its 2026 France selection, four of them new at that level. The list was published in French on 18 September, the day of the worldwide reveal, and it covers Monaco as well as France. Two Keys mean an exceptional stay, in the guide’s words, the middle of its three levels for hotels. With 26 hotels at Three Keys and 155 at One, the French list counts 220 hotels in all, 16 more than in 2025. Paris has seven of the 39, Courchevel three and the Riviera five. Here is the full list, with the new names.
Rosewood, Vougeot, Beaulieu and the Mouflon d’Or
Two hotels enter at Two Keys this year, according to MICHELIN’s French list, and two move up. The new ones are Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin, with 51 rooms, and Les Sources de Vougeot, in Burgundy. The second has 49 rooms in a former priory, once the residence of the abbots of Cîteaux, within the walls of the Château de Gilly, close to the village of Vougeot and the Clos de Vougeot vineyard. Its renovation was completed in 2026, the guide says. There are two restaurants, Auberge des Cîteaux and Clos de la Tour, and a Caudalie spa in the château’s old vaulted cellars. The promotions are La Réserve de Beaulieu, a Florentine-style villa at Beaulieu-sur-Mer with 39 rooms and suites, whose Restaurant des Rois holds one MICHELIN star, and Domaine du Mouflon d’Or, a former Belle Époque hotel at Zonza, in the mountains of Corsica, with 25 rooms.

Paris seven, Courchevel three, the Riviera five
By our count, Paris has seven Two-Key hotels. They are Crillon, J.K. Place Paris, Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Nolinski, Bvlgari Hôtel Paris, Le Royal Monceau and The Peninsula Paris. With its nine Three-Key hotels, the capital holds 16 of the 65 hotels at the top two levels of the list. Courchevel has three. Next to Aman Le Mélézin and the new Rosewood is L’Apogée Courchevel, the Oetker hotel whose general manager will also open Le Mas Bellevue in Saint-Tropez. The Riviera has five. La Réserve de Beaulieu, Château Eza, Le Negresco in Nice, The Maybourne Riviera at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Le Domaine du Mas de Pierre at Saint-Paul-de-Vence share the coast with the Hôtel Métropole in Monte-Carlo next door. The Saint-Tropez peninsula has three: Airelles Saint-Tropez Château de la Messardière, Cheval Blanc St-Tropez and Lily of The Valley at La Croix-Valmer. Provence has four, from Château de la Gaude at Aix-en-Provence to La Mirande in Avignon, Les Roches Blanches at Cassis and Coquillade at Gargas. The rest are spread from Biarritz and Sauternes to Brittany, Normandy, Burgundy, the Loire and Alsace, with Troisgros at Ouches and Le K2 Chogori at Val-d’Isère.
Three Keys: two promotions, and 26 hotels
At the top level, MICHELIN’s France list counts 26 Three-Key hotels, Monaco’s Hôtel de Paris included, as we set out in our list of Europe’s Three-Key hotels. Two were promoted this year: Le Château de la Chèvre d’Or at Èze and Le Couvent des Minimes at Mane, in Provence. With the 155 One-Key hotels, the 2026 selection counts 220 hotels in all, against 204 a year earlier.
The Luxury.it perspective
Two Keys is where the French list is most useful to a traveller, because it reaches beyond Paris and the Riviera into the places people drive to: a Sauternes château, an old inn at Honfleur, a Corsican mountain village, a Burgundy priory a few minutes from the Clos de Vougeot. The new names show where the guide is looking. Burgundy is one answer. Les Sources de Vougeot is the one to book first, for the wine trip the Côte de Nuits deserves, and the Mouflon d’Or is the most unexpected address on the list. In Paris, the seven make a short list to choose from by neighbourhood, from the Left Bank at the Lutetia to the Place de la Concorde at the Crillon. MICHELIN revises the Keys every year, and we will update this list when the next selection is out.
