Michelin Keys 2026 Switzerland: the 10 Three-Key and 31 Two-Key hotels

By Camilla De SantisOctober 16, 20264 min readDestinations Desk

MICHELIN counts 89 Key hotels in Switzerland in 2026, ten of them with Three Keys and 31 with Two. The list was published in German on 18 September, with the worldwide selection, and it brings three new names to the top two levels: Kulm Hotel St. Moritz and the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne at Three Keys, and Six Senses Crans-Montana at Two. The other 48 hotels hold One Key. St. Moritz alone has three of the ten Three-Key hotels. Here are the 41 hotels at Three and Two Keys, town by town, and the new names among the rest.

Kulm, Beau-Rivage Palace and Six Senses: the three new names

The two promotions to Three Keys go to hotels with long histories, according to MICHELIN’s Swiss list. Kulm Hotel St. Moritz has 150 rooms. The Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne has 168 rooms at Ouchy, on the shore of Lake Geneva, and in the guide’s words “the better rooms” look “over the lake and the French Alps”. The new Two-Key hotel is Six Senses Crans-Montana, with 78 rooms on the Route des Téléphériques, ski-in, ski-out access to the Cry d’Er gondola and views of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. It has two restaurants, Byakko, which is Japanese, and Wild Cabin. “Even by the standard of Swiss Alpine luxury resorts, Six Senses Crans-Montana is remarkable,” the inspectors write.

“There are other luxury hotels in St. Moritz, but the Kulm can credibly claim to be the original.” The MICHELIN Guide

St. Moritz, Crans-Montana and the lakes: where they are

By our count, St. Moritz has four hotels at the top two levels, Badrutt’s Palace, the Carlton and the Kulm at Three Keys and Suvretta House at Two, with the Grand Hotel Kronenhof a few kilometres away at Pontresina. Crans-Montana has four Two-Key hotels, more than any other Swiss town. Zurich and Geneva each have one Three-Key and three Two-Key hotels, Gstaad one and two, and Zermatt, Ascona and Arosa two Two-Key hotels each. On Lake Lucerne, the Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa holds Three Keys on its cliff above the water. Ticino has three Two-Key hotels, two at Ascona on Lake Maggiore and Villa Principe Leopoldo above Lugano. Among the 48 One-Key hotels, four are new: Waldhotel by Bürgenstock, Huus Quell by Appenzeller Huus at Gonten, Miiro The Mansard in Gstaad and Hotel Welschen in Zermatt. The restaurants come next. The MICHELIN Guide Switzerland presents its restaurant selection on Monday 2 November at the Andermatt Konzerthalle, in the town of The Chedi Andermatt, one of the 31, as we noted in our calendar of the MICHELIN ceremonies.

The Luxury.it perspective

Switzerland’s list is short at the top and dense in the middle. Ten Three-Key hotels, three of them in one resort, say how much St. Moritz still means to the Alps. The 31 Two-Key hotels are where a traveller finds range, from the nine rooms of the Krone at Regensberg, near Zurich, to the 235 of the Montreux Palace. For the winter, Crans-Montana is the resort to watch, with four Two-Key hotels and a new Six Senses among them. For the lakes, Lausanne now has a Three-Key palace on the water, and Lake Lucerne and Lake Maggiore keep their Two-Key classics at Lucerne, Vitznau and Ascona. The restaurant stars follow on 2 November, and we will add them to our Swiss coverage when MICHELIN publishes them.
