20 luxury hotels opening in Europe, October 2026 to 2027: the dates so far

Twenty luxury hotels are due to open or reopen in Europe between 16 October 2026 and summer 2027. Among those still to come, four have published a day. That is still the first thing to know about this season’s list: the calendar is full, but it keeps moving. Below are the twenty, in the order their operators give, with the number of keys, the names attached and what the hotel or the group says. We first published this guide on 24 September and re-checked every date on 11 October 2026; where a date has changed, we say so.

October 2026: Florence and Rome

La Réserve Firenze opens on 16 October 2026, still the most precise date on the list. It is not a hotel in the usual sense. It is six apartments inside a 15th-century palazzo at Via Santo Spirito 6 in the Oltrarno, from a 175-square-metre one-bedroom with frescoes to a three-bedroom duplex of 205 square metres with a 55-square-metre terrace, all with kitchens, a butler, a housekeeper and a private chef on call, restored by Gilles and Boissier, as we described in our piece on the apartments. The opening was first announced for June. Rome is next. Experimental Roma was due to welcome its first guests on Saturday 10 October, as we reported in our Via Veneto piece, with 82 rooms and suites in a former bank at Via Ludovisi 46, interiors by Rodolphe Parente, a rooftop pool and Ludovisi e Cadore, the restaurant with which Giovanni Passerini brings his Roman quinto quarto cooking home from Paris. We wrote about the restaurant in September. The group’s page now takes bookings and no longer shows a date.

Autumn 2026: London’s two grand debuts

London has waited years for both of these. The St. Regis London, the brand’s first hotel in Britain, takes over the former Westbury at 37 Conduit Street, on the corner of Bond Street, with 193 rooms including 66 suites, interiors by Richmond International and Le Perroquet, an all-day French brasserie by Daniel Rose. Marriott’s announcement in June said “scheduled for autumn 2026”; the hotel page now takes bookings without giving a day, and presents its bar as “Debuting Soon”. Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch is the bigger story: 114 rooms, suites and residences inside the Grade I-listed arch on The Mall that Sir Aston Webb designed as a memorial to Queen Victoria, with Coreus by Clare Smyth in the former residence of the First Sea Lord, Café Boulud on the roof as Daniel Boulud’s only restaurant in Europe, a bar called Whisky and Seaweed, and a ballroom for 500. The hotel page reads “Opening Autumn 2026” and “Reservations available from February 2027”, and Hilton’s June release opened bookings for stays from 1 March 2027, so the first bookable nights fall in early spring.

2026, without a month: Paris, London, Lisbon

Three more give only the year or the season. The Hôtel Raphael on Avenue Kléber, built in 1926 and closed for a full renovation, tells visitors only that it will see them in 2026, with 54 rooms and 29 suites; the Leading Hotels of the World list has it down for November. Delano London, the first European address of the Miami brand, brings 67 rooms and the Rose Bar to Kensington, “late 2026” according to its operator, Ennismore, since October 2025. The Standard, Lisbon, with 170 rooms and 24 long-stay apartments in the Palácio Santa Clara in Alfama, designed by Jaime Hayon, now says only “Coming soon” on its own site.

December 2026: Cortina and Courchevel

December has the firmest dates. The First Cortina opens on 4 December 2026, according to the operator’s announcement of 2 September, while the booking page says “opening later this year”. The Pavilions Hotels and Resorts has rebuilt a property on Corso Italia into 76 rooms and suites, with a 1,000-square-metre spa under its wellness brand Revivo, a pastry shop called Velo and Zuma Cortina, the Japanese izakaya group’s first restaurant in the Alps. In Courchevel 1850, two houses share a day, 18 December. Saint Roch, the Maisons Pariente hotel, returns with 37 keys and a marble mosaic by Pierre Mesguich in its spa, as we set out in our piece on its return. Bourbon Hotel opens with 31 rooms and Simonetta, the Italian restaurant of Simone Zanoni, which we covered in our Bourbon piece. In Portugal, the Experimental group lists Experimental Porto for December 2026, without a day or a room count.

Early 2027: the Cristallo, after the Games

Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina still says “opening early 2027” on its own page, with 84 rooms and suites. When the group announced the project in 2022 it was for the winter of 2026, in time for the Games; the Cristallo of 1901, built by the Menardi family, is being reworked by Herzog and de Meuron and will now open with the season already under way. Cambridge House, the Auberge Collection’s hotel in the 18th-century mansion at 94 Piccadilly that housed the Naval and Military Club until 1999, says “set to debut in 2027” on its site; the trade press has it for 1 February. It brings 102 rooms including 24 suites, interiors by Jean-Louis Deniot, a spa called Baeden House and Major’s, a restaurant from New York’s Major Food Group, as we set out in our Cambridge House piece.

2027: Milan, Rome, Spain, the Loire and Gstaad

Milan’s two most anticipated hotels are both 2027 now. Rosewood Milan, in the former Banca Commerciale palazzo, has “70 rooms, including approximately 20 suites”, in the brand’s words, and was once expected in 2025. Six Senses Milan, at Via Brera 19 with 68 rooms, 15 of them suites, was late 2026 and is now 2027. Rome has Rosewood Rome, with 147 keys in the former BNL headquarters by Marcello Piacentini on Via Veneto, also for 2027. Six Senses adds two more for the year, as we reported when it announced its three European openings: Quexigal Palace, near Madrid, an estate built in 1563 by Juan de Herrera, the architect of El Escorial, and a resort in the Loire Valley with 88 suites and villas around a château. Its communique of 7 October puts Quexigal in early 2027 and the Loire in the third quarter. The Experimental group lists Comporta, on the Portuguese coast, for 2027. In the Alps, The Park Gstaad, A Four Seasons Hotel, with 75 keys by Joseph Dirand, including 18 suites and six penthouse residences, now says “Opening Summer 2027”. Two have already opened. Nobu Hotel Madrid, 50 rooms on Calle Alcalá, took its first guests on 1 September, and the Danieli in Venice reopened as a Four Seasons hotel on 30 July with 120 rooms; the hotel now counts 176 rooms and suites, 79 of them suites, for 2027, when the Palazzo Danieli Excelsior is finished.

The Luxury.it perspective

Read the dates and the pattern holds. Small opens on time. The hotels with a day are small: six apartments in Florence, 76 rooms in Cortina, 37 and 31 keys in Courchevel. The projects that slipped are the big flags in listed buildings, where a restoration meets a heritage authority and a hotel group meets an owner, and the opening date is the last thing anyone controls. That is not a criticism of the groups; it is the reason the restorations are worth waiting for. For a traveller planning the winter and 2027, the practical reading is this: book La Réserve Firenze, The First Cortina and the two Courchevel houses now, because they have dates; watch Admiralty Arch and the St. Regis for the first bookable nights, which is where the value sits in a new hotel; and treat everything marked “2027” as spring at the earliest, with Gstaad in the summer. Milan, meanwhile, is due two grand hotels in the same year, which makes 2027 the year to watch there.
