Bari had no MICHELIN Key hotel in 2025; in 2026 the 10-room Bra Hotel in Murat earned one. It is one of 16 Key hotels in Puglia on MICHELIN’s 2026 list, up from 13: three at Two Keys and 13 at One, with none at Three. Masseria Torre Maizza, a Rocco Forte Hotel, at Savelletri di Fasano, moves up from One Key to Two, and the new names at One Key are the Bra Hotel, Leonardo Trulli Resort, at Locorotondo, and VISTA Ostuni. The other 12 keep their tier. Four of the 16 stand in one coastal hamlet, Savelletri di Fasano. The tiers come from MICHELIN’s 2026 list for Italy, published in Italian on 18 September, and the regional count is ours. Matera, Bernalda and Pisticci, often paired with Puglia in travel plans, are in Basilicata and are not counted here.
Borgo Egnazia, Torre Maizza and Palazzo Bozzi Corso at Two Keys
Borgo Egnazia is the largest by far. Its 184 rooms are a third of the region’s total. MICHELIN describes “a cluster of low stone buildings and villas connected by narrow walkways”, laid out like a Puglian village beside the San Domenico golf course, and its facilities include “the golf course, four pools, two beach clubs, a tennis academy and a cooking school”. Due Camini, its restaurant, holds a MICHELIN Star in the current guide. The hotel was No. 88 in the World’s 50 Best Hotels extended list, as in our report on the 51 to 100 list. Its holiday rules, with some rooms kept for adults at Christmas and New Year, show that it opens over the festive season.
Masseria Torre Maizza is the promotion. “Time was, the notion of living the high life in Puglia was oxymoronic”, MICHELIN writes. The hotel has 40 rooms in a lime-washed farmhouse whose “interiors edge toward the luxurious”, and “even the suites in the new satellite buildings come with old-fashioned barrel-vault ceilings”. The pool is lined with ancient stone columns. There is a cooking school, a beach club, a spa and “a nine-hole golf course”, plus a 14-metre yacht for guests. It appears among the new Two-Key names in our list of Italy’s 49 Two-Key hotels.
In Lecce, La Fiermontina Palazzo Bozzi Corso has ten suites in “a city-center palazzo that dates back to 1775”. One of them is filled with works by Fernand Léger. The spa is small. Yoga happens on the roof. “Breakfast is the extent of the kitchen’s offerings”, the inspectors write, and Lecce’s restaurants are a short walk away.

Together they have 556 rooms, by our count, and the municipality of Fasano, with Savelletri and Torre Canne, holds 341 of them. Seven of the 16 have fewer than 20 rooms.
Savelletri and Torre Canne: five Key hotels around Fasano
Savelletri, a fishing hamlet on the Adriatic, has four Key hotels, as many as Taormina or Noto, as in our list of the Sicilian Key hotels. Two are masserie at One Key. Masseria Torre Coccaro “began its life in the 16th century as a watchtower”, part of a fortified farmhouse built against raiders, and “Today the fortifications are strictly ornamental”. Of its 44 rooms, “two are carved from limestone caves, one opening onto an orange grove and a private pool”. Golf, an Aveda spa and a cooking school complete it. Masseria Calderisi stands “Halfway from the town of Fasano to the beach”, on a 24-acre estate that “dates back to the 17th century”. Its 24 rooms and suites are in the main building, the old tower and the stables.
Down the coast, at Torre Canne, Canne Bianche Lifestyle Hotel has 49 rooms on the edge of the Adriatic, with beach access, a seafront pool and a Turkish bath. Every room has a balcony or a terrace. MICHELIN calls it “the kind of hotel where you check in and then check out, mentally”.
Lecce and the Salento: six addresses from Santa Croce to the tip of the heel
Lecce has three. Palazzo Bozzi Corso holds Two Keys, and two more hold One. Patria Palace, on Piazzetta Riccardi, faces the carved front of Santa Croce. It is “an 18th-century palazzo that’s been reimagined with Belle Époque flair”, with 38 rooms, and “Breakfast is served to the sound of a live harp or violin”. A shuttle runs to the Adriatic beaches in summer. La Fiermontina Luxury Home, on Piazzetta Scipione De Summa, has 19 rooms in a 17th-century house. The local architect Antonio Annicchiarico rebuilt it around “the arches and vaults of the classic Pugliese masseria”. Zèphyr, its restaurant, sits among the citrus trees of the courtyard.
South of Lecce, the Salento adds three. Critabianca, at Cutrofiano, is in the Grecìa Salentina, “an enclave of Greek descent”. The house is a 14th-century farmhouse with “no outbuildings or cottages, just six bedrooms in the main house”. Breakfast is served in the garden by an orange grove, the four-course dinner changes every day, and the hotel takes adults only, from May to October. At Gagliano del Capo, near the tip of Italy’s heel, Palazzo Daniele has 15 suites in a 150-year-old palazzo. It has “a distinctive black-bottomed swimming pool with a summertime tapas bar”, and the old Kaffeehaus is “now a private dining venue for two”. It opens from April to October. Baglioni Masseria Muzza, just outside Otranto, has 40 rooms in a whitewashed masseria with arched ceilings. The beach and the Alimini lakes are close by.
Bari, Ostuni and Locorotondo: five One-Key hotels, three of them new
The Bra Hotel is “set in Murat, the center of modern Bari”, about three streets from the seafront and from the old town. Its 10 rooms come with “chromotherapy showers and Diptyque bath products”. The top suite has a whirlpool tub and its own hammam, and the rooftop pool is in white marble. Ostuni has two. VISTA Ostuni, new in 2026, stands “Between Ostuni’s whitewashed hilltop streets and the Adriatic”. Its 28 rooms and suites have “heavy stone walls set against airy vaulted ceilings”, and “The spa flows into the gardens with two pools”. In the town, Paragon 700 Boutique Hotel & SPA is “this irreverent, provocative, and decidedly unconventional hotel”, in MICHELIN’s words. Its rooms are all different, and the old cistern is now “a small and striking subterranean spa”. “Restaurant 700 is a fixture on the local nightlife scene”.
Locorotondo, in the Valle d’Itria between Bari and Brindisi, also has two. Leonardo Trulli Resort, the third new name, has 14 rooms in trulli and in a central farmhouse, with a large pool, yoga and padel, and a restaurant that cooks from the resort’s garden. MICHELIN says it “leans all the way in to the charm of these whitewashed stone buildings”. Ottolire Resort is a farmhouse “purchased in ruins in the Seventies but now much expanded”, with a spa in a trullo of its own and a terrace restaurant. Cisternino, Martina Franca, Ostuni and Alberobello are “all less than a 30-minute drive away”, the inspectors note. Martina Franca has a new table of its own, Atempo, added to the guide in October, as in our report on the 25 new restaurants.
The Luxury.it perspective
Puglia’s Keys are a story of farmhouses and one fishing hamlet. Four of the 16 carry “Masseria” in their names, three of them at Savelletri. The municipality of Fasano holds five hotels and 61 percent of the region’s Key rooms, which makes the coast between Savelletri and Torre Canne the obvious base, with Ostuni, the Valle d’Itria and Bari within an hour. Lecce and the Salento are the second base. The region still has no Three-Key hotel. Its three Two-Key houses are a village resort, a masseria and a palazzo. Only two pages give seasons, both ending in October, while Borgo Egnazia’s holiday rules show it open at Christmas and New Year. For most of the 16, the list is a plan for 2027.
