Michelin Keys 2026 Sardinia: 5 hotels, 3 new, from Porto Cervo to Cagliari

By Camilla De SantisOctober 24, 20264 min readDestinations Desk

Palazzo Boyl in Cagliari has three cannonballs lodged in its facade and, since 2026, a MICHELIN Key. It is one of five Sardinian hotels on MICHELIN’s 2026 list, all at One Key, and one of the three that are new. The other two new names are on the Costa Smeralda: Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel, near Porto Cervo, and Petra Segreta Resort & Spa, at San Pantaleo. Cascioni Eco Retreat, at Arzachena, and Casa Clàt, in Cagliari, keep the Keys they held in 2025. The island goes from two Key hotels to five, three on the north-east coast and two in the capital. MICHELIN published the list in Italian, in its complete list of the Italian Keys, on 18 September, and the Sardinian count is ours. Its English page for Italy still shows the 2025 selection.

The five Sardinian lines on MICHELIN’s 2026 list

All five hold One Key, MICHELIN’s “very special stay”, and the room counts are those of each hotel’s page.

Hotel Town Rooms
Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel, Costa Smeralda (new) Porto Cervo 78
Petra Segreta Resort & Spa (new) San Pantaleo 27
Cascioni Eco Retreat Arzachena 15
Palazzo Boyl 1840 (new) Cagliari 6
Casa Clàt Cagliari 9

Together they have 135 rooms, by our count. Romazzino alone has 78 of them.

Romazzino, Petra Segreta and Cascioni on the Costa Smeralda

Romazzino is the largest of the five and the only one above 30 rooms. MICHELIN files it under Porto Cervo, and its address is Via Romazzino 4, in the municipality of Arzachena. The hotel, “laid out by the architect Michele Busiri Vici, makes the most of its expansive setting”, the inspectors write, and “Gardens line the pathways that lead down to the hotel’s private beach”. It joined the Belmond collection in 2024, according to MICHELIN’s Italian text. Petra Segreta has 27 rooms and suites at San Pantaleo, inland, about 22 kilometres from Olbia’s airport. “Private verandas and patios are universal,” MICHELIN notes, and “There’s a wellness center that’d be the envy of a much bigger hotel.” It is “only a few minutes from the beach”.

Cascioni Eco Retreat, on the SP 59 bis at Arzachena, held its Key in 2025 too. “It’s an all-suite hotel, and each one comes with its own patio, garden, and pool,” MICHELIN writes of its 15 suites. The spa “makes use of local olive oil and sea salt”, there are classes in cookery and crafts, and the restaurant is Ulìa. MICHELIN says the hotel’s “mission is to be a good steward of the land that it occupies”. It was also shortlisted for one of MICHELIN’s 2026 Special Awards.

Palazzo Boyl 1840 and Casa Clàt: 15 rooms in Cagliari

The capital’s two Key hotels are both small. Palazzo Boyl 1840, at Via Mario de Candia 5, was built in 1840 above the port, on 13th-century Pisan walls, and the older Lion Tower is part of its structure. “Three cannonballs are still lodged in the façade of Palazzo Boyl,” MICHELIN writes, “souvenirs of bombardments by the English, Spanish, and French across three separate centuries”. The walls tell the story. It has six rooms, named after the old uses of the rooms. “The Library keeps its original beams alongside blue Chesterfield sofas,” and there is “a terrace suite above the city with water views at sunset”.

Casa Clàt, at Viale Regina Margherita 55/57, has nine suites in a historic building renovated by Studio Pilia, with work by many Sardinian artists and craftspeople. MICHELIN says it “shows an uncommonly refined side of the Sardinian capital”, and “You might find antique brickwork alongside modern concrete, or old timbers above new hardwood floors.” “Each suite is unique,” the inspectors add. The restaurant cooks Sardinian seafood, and “The hotel’s restaurant serves mussels among other Sardinian specialties”.

Looking to 2027: Pitrizza and the next season

The Costa Smeralda’s summer is over. MICHELIN’s pages give no opening months for 2027. The next season brings a change on the same coast. Pitrizza, the Porto Cervo hotel of 1963, relaunches as Cheval Blanc Pitrizza in May 2027, as in our report on the relaunch, a move MICHELIN’s Italian text also notes. For the coast’s other addresses, from the beach clubs to the villages, our guide to the Costa Smeralda covers its six bases, and our Porto Cervo restaurant guide lists the tables. Cagliari works in every season.

The Luxury.it perspective

Sardinia’s Keys reward small houses. Four of the five have 27 rooms or fewer, and the two in Cagliari have 15 between them. The island’s list reads less like a guide to resorts than a guide to places with a strong sense of where they are, from a palazzo with cannonballs in its walls to suites with their own gardens in the Gallura countryside. The list also covers both ends of the island. A trip can join the capital’s old town with the granite coast of the north-east, about three hours apart by road. Three of the five are new in 2026. The island’s Key count more than doubled in a year.
