Michelin Keys 2026 Madrid: all 13 hotels, from the Ritz to Salamanca

By Alessandro ContiOctober 29, 20265 min readOpenings Desk

Plaza de la Lealtad 5 is the address of Madrid’s only Three-Key hotel, the Mandarin Oriental Ritz. It is one of 13 MICHELIN Key hotels in the Spanish capital for 2026: one at Three Keys, two at Two and ten at One, with 1,642 rooms between them by our count. No other city in Spain has a Key hotel in every tier. Four Seasons Hotel Madrid and Rosewood Villa Magna hold Two Keys, and Heritage Madrid, a townhouse in the Salamanca district, is the one new name. The tiers come from MICHELIN’s 2026 list for Spain, published in Spanish on 18 September; its English page for Spain still shows the 2024 selection. The restaurant Stars move sooner. MICHELIN presents its 2027 restaurant selection for Spain on 24 November, as in our calendar of the 2027 ceremonies.

Thirteen hotels, one in every tier: the Madrid list

Neighbourhoods are as MICHELIN labels them, and room counts come from the header of each hotel’s MICHELIN page.

Keys Hotel Neighbourhood Rooms
Three Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid Retiro 153
Two Four Seasons Hotel Madrid Centro 200
Two Rosewood Villa Magna Salamanca 150
One Brach Madrid – Evok Collection Centro 57
One CoolRooms Palacio de Atocha Centro 34
One Gran Hotel Inglés Barrio de las Letras 48
One Heritage Madrid (new) Salamanca 46
One Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid Centro 125
One Palacio de los Duques, Gran Meliá Austrias and Plaza Mayor 186
One Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel Chamberí 51
One The Palace, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid Centro 470
One Unico Salamanca 44
One URSO Centro 78

Six of the 13 are in Centro and three in Salamanca. The largest is The Palace, with 470 rooms, and the smallest is CoolRooms Palacio de Atocha, with 34. Five list a pool.

Three Keys and Two: the Ritz, the Four Seasons and Villa Magna

The Mandarin Oriental Ritz has 153 rooms in a Belle Époque palace in the museum quarter, and MICHELIN writes that “the architecture, both inside and out, is nothing short of monumental”. The rooms were renovated in 2021. Afternoon tea is served in the Palm Court and cocktails in the Pictura bar, and a new fitness and wellness area lies underground. Deessa, its modern Mediterranean restaurant, is “recognized with two MICHELIN Stars”, in the words of the hotel’s page.

Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, at Calle de Sevilla 3, has 200 rooms, and the idea, MICHELIN notes, was to “take four historic buildings and transform them into one sensational showpiece”, with a spa and both an indoor and an outdoor pool. Its “extensive art collection features a number of rising Spanish artists”. Rosewood Villa Magna stands on the Paseo de la Castellana in Salamanca. “The 150 guest rooms maintain an air of classic elegance”, and the top-floor Real Suite is “a study in penthouse decadence”. Its restaurant is Amós. There is also a champagne bar with “garden-facing picture windows”, and a spa with a Turkish bath.

Salamanca and Chamberí: Heritage Madrid, Unico and Santo Mauro

Heritage Madrid, at Calle de Diego de León 43, occupies “a stately townhouse in the upscale Salamanca district”. It is new to the list this year. The style “melds century-old architecture and antiques with contemporary luxury design and first-rate modern comforts”, and the restaurant, Haroma, is run by the chef Mario Sandoval. Unico, also in Salamanca at Claudio Coello 67, is a 44-room boutique hotel “behind an elegant 19th-century facade”, with a spa and El Patio de Claudio. “There’s round-the-clock room service, a pillow menu for picky sleepers, and plenty of modern gadgetry”, MICHELIN adds.

In Chamberí, Santo Mauro is an 1895 mansion off the Paseo de la Castellana, with 51 rooms, an indoor pool and a restaurant in the former library. “It’s hard to imagine anywhere more discreet and private”, the inspectors write.

From Gran Vía to the Barrio de las Letras: seven One-Key hotels in the centre

The Palace, listed until recently as The Westin Palace, has received guests since 1912. “The original stained-glass dome is still in place above the reception”, and “the location is absolutely central, just off the Prado”. It is the largest hotel on the list. Gran Hotel Inglés, which MICHELIN calls “the city’s oldest luxury hotel, welcoming guests since 1886”, has 48 rooms in the Barrio de las Letras. Its interiors, by New York’s Rockwell Group, “pay tribute to the Art Deco era”, and it has a Sisley spa and the Lobo 8 restaurant. Palacio de los Duques, Gran Meliá, is “a 19th-century palace belonging to a pair of dukes”, with 186 rooms in colours that are “an explicit homage to the paintings of Velázquez”. Its Jardín de los Duques serves Spanish cooking in the former stables.

On Gran Vía, Brach Madrid occupies a building completed in 1922. The interiors are by Philippe Starck. It has 57 rooms, a spa with an indoor pool, a Parisian-style pastry shop at the entrance and a rooftop terrace that “looks out over the romantic silhouettes and decorative facades of downtown”. CoolRooms Palacio de Atocha, in a 19th-century palace house, has 34 rooms and suites, “among the largest in town”, and a Pool-Garden with an outdoor pool and a weekend brunch. Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid, with 125 rooms in a 19th-century palace decorated by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, keeps its Padrino Cocktail Bar “in a former bookstore”. URSO, in “a stately early 20th-century palace”, has 78 rooms, interiors by Antonio Obrador and a cellar spa with a wood-lined pool. MICHELIN calls the spa “Madrid’s first branded luxury hotel spa”, and it is affiliated with Natura Bissé.

The Luxury.it perspective

Madrid’s Keys go to old buildings. Palaces, an 1895 mansion, a townhouse and two landmark buildings of 1912 and 1922 make up most of the list, and the newest name, Heritage Madrid, follows the pattern. Choose by district. For the Prado and the Thyssen, the Ritz and The Palace are a short walk away; for shopping, the three Salamanca hotels; for a swim in winter, the indoor pools at the Four Seasons, Brach, Santo Mauro and URSO. The Keys are set for the year, but the restaurant Stars will be redrawn on 24 November. For the rest of Europe’s grandest addresses, see our list of the Three-Key hotels.
